EDUCATION PROPOSALS 2025-26
FROM THE CARLO FELICE THEATER
OPERA FARO
Opera Faro aims to be a gateway to engage and inspire students’ passion for opera through participation in two of the titles on the program – Don Giovanni e Il campiello – reimagined and staged specifically for them, with a duration of approximately 50 minutes.
The show is led by an actor-narrator and uses the same costumes and sets as the opera scheduled for the season, as well as the singers and orchestra.
Participation in the theater is preceded by an introductory meeting and presentation of the work at school—organized in collaboration with the Niccolò Paganini Conservatory in Genoa—during which teachers will be provided with educational and recreational materials, as well as an Opera-Faro Playlist to “illuminate” the show through multiple expressive stages.

The show freely reworks Mozart and Da Ponte’s masterpiece into a story that reinterprets and explores the enigmatic tale of Don Giovanni. Leporello, Donna Elvira, and then Donna Anna, Zerlina, Don Ottavio, and Masetto return to the place where Don Giovanni disappeared to find out what happened. By recounting and singing about their amazement, passion, or pain, they understand how their encounter with Don Giovanni has turned their lives upside down.
Throughout the story and through the characters’ memories, we hear the fundamental musical passages of the opera, recomposed in a simple, heartfelt, sometimes frightened, but also loving narrative… “But who was Don Giovanni really? Have you ever heard of him? Let’s find out together!”

On a cold morning, two tourists linger to admire the beauty of a small Venetian square while their large cruise ship resumes its journey. Left behind on land, they soon realize they are “trapped” in a magical reality suspended in space and time, where an ancient but fascinating language is spoken. The clock of history in this little square seems to have stopped in the 18th century, and the square gradually fills with its protagonists: Lucieta, Gnese, Zorzeto with their funny mothers, and then Il Cavalier Astolfi, Gasparina, and her “despotic” uncle.
The two unsuspecting visitors find themselves, unseen, watching and commenting on the events that enliven the square and are typical of Goldoni’s comedies: amorous skirmishes, parties, games, and inevitable quarrels.
Only in the evening, when their large cruise ship passes by the square again, will our two “time travelers” be able to return to their own era. And who knows if one of the protagonists of the Campiello might be eager to take advantage of this window into the future to embark on a new adventure?
Through a escamotage, this adaptation of Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari’s work gives the viewer a sort of modern magnifying glass to observe Goldoni’s world, immerse themselves in it, and fully grasp all its nuances and… why not? All its modernity!
